Virtual rotations are designed to mirror an in person experience as closely as possible. Students visit an assigned website. After they review and research the case and write a note they meet live via webinar with the preceptor. The case and all differentials are reviewed and all questions answered.

Please note: PA Excel cannot guarantee that this exercise will qualify for a complete rotation with ARC-PA, however these exercises do cover most objectives for many schools with the exception of hands on requirements. It is the responsibility of the school to reconcile their objectives with ARC-PA.
Please feel free to review this LIVE webinar recording from one of our live webinar sessions. All sessions will be conducted in a similar manner.
The PA-Excel virtual rotation has provided our students with an excellent experience so far, especially during the clinical rotation interruption. The students are challenged with each case and they are also getting a significant amount of practice with clinical documentation, something that they often don’t spend enough time on during in-person rotations. While it does not replace live patient interactions, the format forces the students to think critically about an assessment and treatment plan and commit to it prior to getting feedback with the instructor. They are doing research on the topics on their own and functioning much like a new graduate would in a real clinical setting. I would highly recommend this option to other PA programs.

As the Director of Clinical Education of a large PA Program, I can vouch for the quality of education my students are receiving through the on-line Webinars, for the expertise in organization in the PA Excel Administration and the incredible support we are receiving from the PA Excel team. COVID19 has hit all of us, but in particular, so many clinical rotations sites have literally vanished and we are now in the process of virtually supporting the sites that remain with on-line quality programs. I've attended the OBGYN Webinar with my students and I'm so impressed with the physician leading the case reviews, the support of PA Excel at each seminar and the bounty of teaching my students are receiving. PA Excel has clearly considered the Learning Objectives of the SCPEs and provides cases and teaching that help us to supplement our students' actual SCPE time. We are looking forward to the Pediatric Webinar soon. This makes a wonderful compliment to our diminished rotation times and availabilities. I highly recommend the Webinar and the support PA Excel offers is likely translated to all of their products!

PA Excel's virtual rotation has been a great way to complete rotations when it isn't possible to work directly with patients. The cases are complex and challenging, and the classes are engaging and well-taught. The PAs who teach the classes are knowledgeable, patient, and great resources for our continued learning. My note-writing skills are improving every day, and I'm learning new information as I look up questions and unfamiliar content. This is my first rotation, and I really believe I will be more prepared to enter clinical sites because of it. I believe this to be a great tool for students at any point in their clinical training, and I'm thankful to be able to continue my learning when sites are unavailable to me.
Additionally, the HELP Campus module has a great learning model, and is packed with helpful content and questions. The modules are set up so that students are asked priming questions prior to reviewing small sections of material, then are quizzed on the information that was reviewed. I feel much more confident about a large amount of material than I did a month ago, and I absolutely recommend it to supplement the patient cases on rotation.
When a live rotation is not an option, this is a wonderful program. I am greatly thankful to still be learning and practicing information with such great PA educators while I'm at home, but I still can't wait for the day when I can meet my first patient.
Thanks for everything!

My school started using PAExcel at the beginning of May as they made the transition to virtual rotations due to COVID-19. Although it was disappointing to no longer be able to go to clinical due to COVID-19, I am having a great experience with PAExcel. All of the cases that we have done thus far have been high-quality and thought-provoking. The virtual rotation model that PAExcel provides offers a unique opportunity for students to fully think through a differential diagnosis, problem list, and plan without pressure to keep pace with more-experienced preceptors and providers as would be the case during traditional clinical rotations. Talking about the intricacies of one unique case for a full hour with an experienced provider is another advantage of the virtual platform. Specifically, PAExcel has helped me gain more confidence in thinking through difficult hospital-based cases.
